Tittle Issue:
In many parts of Indonesia, the kebaya is seen as a strong nationalistic symbol and has been strongly supported as a symbol of identity for Indonesia women by prominent figures throughout the nation’s history.
Recently, this traditional dress has become recognized internationally as it is used as the unifrom for flight attendance (stewardesses) on Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, and Garuda Indonesia.
In people believe, kebaya is traditional dress that believed from Tiongkok in hundred years before and spread to another country, like Malaka, Jawa, Bali, Sumatra and Sulawesi. Especially in Indonesia, kebaya has special design that reflect Indonesia culture, like kebaya from Central Java that use R.A Kartini’s kebaya design, that really feflect women’s elegances.
And Indonesia’s people now, not care about kebaya development, because many modern fashion enter in Indonesia, like k-pop style, harajuku style, etc.
We think, kebaya is the one of traditional dress that world wide. We must be proud about that. In the past, kebaya is used for wedding and the design still simple. But in modern perion, kebaya has many changed for the design. Many designer made the new kebaya’s design, like Anne Avantie, and Adjie Notonegoro.
In our opinion, we must show how the kebaya’s from Indonesia because in Singapore and Malaysia Airlines, they used kebaya’s too as uniform for flight attendance (stewardesses). We really appreciate with that, because kebaya to be famous in several country. But if they want take kebaya’s design from indonesia, we’re disagree, because Indonesia has special design for the kebaya.
And from this issue,conclusion are keep kebaya. So that Indonesia has the special design for kebaya, and we can do variation method like organize event wearkebaya, wear kebaya when have important event like Kartini Day’s and the other. We can also give a contest to young generation for design kebaya, so Indonesia has a lot design for kebaya Indonesia. And created dress model kebaya, so Indonesia has type dress kebaya.
